This course introduces you to Microsoft PowerPoint in Office 365, focusing on creating, editing, and delivering professional presentations. You’ll learn to build slides with text, images, charts, and multimedia, apply themes and transitions, and use design tools like SmartArt and WordArt. Additional topics include formatting tables, customizing slide masters, and organizing content with sections and outlines. You’ll also work with embedded files, linked data, and presentation review tools. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to design visually engaging, well-structured presentations for academic, professional, or personal use.

Students will:
  • Create and format PowerPoint presentations using text, images, and layout tools.
  • Apply and customize design themes, shapes, and SmartArt to enhance visual appeal.
  • Insert and format WordArt, charts, tables, and multimedia elements in slides.
  • Customize the Slide Master to maintain consistent design across presentations.
  • Apply animations, transitions, and timing to enhance presentation delivery.
  • Use editing tools to align, group, and format objects for polished layouts.
  • Import content from external sources and work with embedded or linked files.
  • Format tables and charts using advanced layout and style options.
  • Insert and modify audio, video, hyperlinks, and action buttons to support content.
  • Build, organize, and deliver professional presentations, including photo albums and speaker notes.

Course Outline:

Lesson 1: Creating and Editing Presentations with Pictures

In this lesson, you’ll build a presentation from scratch by creating and formatting slides, adding text and images, adjusting layouts, and applying themes. You’ll also practice using design tools, editing features, and presentation views to organize content, enhance visuals, and prepare your slideshow for review and delivery.

Lesson 2: Enhancing Presentations with Shapes and SmartArt

In this lesson, you’ll enhance your presentation by customizing themes, inserting symbols and hyperlinks, and working with SmartArt. You’ll also format and style shapes, merge objects, fill shapes with pictures, and apply transitions. These tools help you create visually engaging and professional slides that communicate your message clearly.

Lesson 3: Inserting WordArt, Charts, and Tables

In this lesson, you’ll learn to enhance presentations with charts, tables, and multimedia. You’ll insert and style data visuals, customize text with WordArt, add and format images, and reuse content. You’ll also apply animations and insert video to make your slides more dynamic and engaging for your audience.

Lesson 4: Customizing Slide Masters and Presentations

In this lesson, you’ll design consistent, professional slides by editing the Slide Master, modifying backgrounds, and inserting placeholders. You’ll experiment with advanced formatting options, create reusable templates, and use tools like the Thesaurus, presentation inspection, and in-show annotations to refine and deliver polished presentations with confidence.

Lesson 5: Collaborating and Adding Animation

In this lesson, you’ll practice editing and organizing a presentation by adjusting spacing, aligning content, and managing sections. You’ll explore advanced formatting tools, add creative effects and animations, and use features like the Format Painter and Animation Painter to apply consistent styling across your slides.

Lesson 6: Formatting Tables and Charts

In this lesson, you’ll work with content from external sources by inserting slides from outlines, embedding and linking files, and editing data-driven elements like tables and charts. You’ll also adjust layouts, apply formatting effects, and navigate your presentation using different views for efficient editing and review.

Lesson 7: Adding Media and Enhancing SmartArt

In this lesson, you’ll enhance your presentation with multimedia and visual elements by using SmartArt, formatting images, and adding audio and video clips. You’ll adjust media settings, customize hyperlinks and action buttons, and practice organizing visual content to support clear and engaging slide design.

Lesson 8: Creating Photo Albums and Delivering Presentations

In this lesson, you’ll analyze data using PivotTables and PivotCharts. You’ll apply filters, summary functions, calculated fields, and slicers to customize your reports. You’ll also explore trendlines, drill-down features, and statistical charts like Box and Whisker to deepen your data insights and presentation skills.

All necessary course materials are included.

Certification(s):

This course prepares a student to take the Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2019 national certification exams.  At this time, there is not a scheduled release date for Microsoft Office 2021 national certification exams.
